The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91精品) features Wisconsin native, Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated writer and director Rob Schrab at this fall檚 91精品 Creativity Series, Wednesday, November 15, 2017, 6 7:30 p.m. at 91精品檚 4th Floor Raw Space, 273 E. Erie Street.

robschrabheadshot1In Schrab檚 public presentation, 淓mbrace the Dumb: The Rob Schrab Experience, he will share his quirky take on career success and failure. 淵ou檝e got to go through difficult things. It檚 what shapes you, he said.

Schrab檚 presentation also will provide an all-access pass into his creative process and career, where he will show clips of his work and discuss how he檚 been in the right place, at the right time to take advantage of opportunities for writing, directing and producing TV shows (including 淕hosted, which premiered on FOX this fall, and 淭he Sarah Silverman Program), feature films and digital media.

The public presentation, which will be followed by a Q&A session, is part of a three-day, in-depth residency on campus, engaging with students in a variety of classes.

  • Originally from Mayville, Wis., and currently lives in Los Angeles
  • 91精品 alumnus (92 Illustration)
  • Serves as a Consultant Producer on FOX檚 淕hosted (premiered October 1, 2017).
  • Wrote the Oscar-nominated animated film 淢onster House.
  • Co-wrote Emmy-winning opening music number for Hugh Jackman at the 81st Academy Awards.
  • Co-created the critically acclaimed 淭he Sarah Silverman Program for Comedy Central.
  • Directed episodes of 淭he Sarah Silverman Program, NBC檚 淧arks and Recreation and 淐ommunity, Spike TV檚 淏lue Mountain State, Adult Swim檚 淐hildrens Hospital and 淭he Mindy Project for Hulu, among other projects.
  • Launched Hollywood career in 1997 when his cult comic book Scud: The Disposable Assassin, was optioned by Oliver Stone and also was made into two video games.

The 91精品 Creativity Series brings distinctive and internationally renowned creatives to Milwaukee from a broad spectrum of the visual arts to enrich the experiences of 91精品 students while engaging the community in new ways of thinking about, and appreciating, the arts and the world of design.

Schrab檚 public presentation for the 91精品 Creativity Series is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served.
