Matthew Warren Lee is a Wisconsin born oil painter and draftsmen who received his MFA from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Lee is currently an Assistant Professor at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design where he teaches courses in a wide range of subjects including observational drawing, scientific illustration, and drafting for engineering. Lees work is rooted in his research produced while working with scientific organizations including the United States Antarctic Program and the Carthage Institute of Paleontology. He has spent the previous decade digging up dinosaurs with Carthage College and has on three summers brought 91Ʒ students through study abroad. His current series of oil paintings depict scientific subject matter including dinosaur excavations, telescopes, and cosmology. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States and includes shows in Milwaukee, Chicago, Madison, Cincinnati, Montana, and New York.
