Continuing a decades-long partnership, students from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) visited UW-Milwaukee�s Special Collections to research miniature books for Professor Leslie Fedorchuck�s Magical Miniatures design elective class.

�Amazing� is how Collin Grotenhuis, creative director at Trek Brand, describes the posters created by 91��Ʒ junior Illustration students in the third year of a collaborative partnership between the college and the international bicycle corporation.

Painting, time-based media, interior design, pretty much any creative pursuit � these are all gateways to creative problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking, argues Scott Schwebel. In his new role as the Milwaukee Art Museum�s chief experience officer, the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) emeritus board trustee shares his perspective on the role of creativity in the business world.

Peter Barrickman, professor of Fine Art + New Studio Practice at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ), maintains a thriving artistic practice outside of his teaching. In the space of a few months, the artist completed a residency in Asención, Chile, was featured in Milwaukee Art Museum�s �50 Paintings� and unveiled a solo exhibition at The Green Gallery.

Since 2008, select students at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) have taken a weeklong field trip many may find surprising � to Kemp Natural Resources Station in Wisconsin�s Northwoods.

2023 at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) was a year of opportunity and growth for students, faculty and staff. From closing a $10 million campaign to opening the new 91��Ʒ Gallery at The Ave to hosting a series of groundbreaking exhibitions, 91��Ʒ celebrates the achievements of its community and looks forward to another exceptional year in 2024.

The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) has announced the 10 recipients of the inaugural Ruth Arts + 91��Ʒ Artist Grant program. Selected from a pool of 47 applicants encompassing full-time faculty, adjunct faculty and staff, the recipients� projects span sculpture to film works.

From its inception in 2020, the Design Internship at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) has impacted Milwaukee�s creative landscape and exposed future artists and designers to careers in the field. This year, the successful program expanded to 12 area partners and will serve 56 Milwaukee-area high school students in 2024.

Mary Eggert, Executive Assistant, received the November 2023 91��Ʒ Values Recognition Award at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ). Mary�s nominations highlighted her embodiment of 91��Ʒ’s Core Values, especially Integrity, Kindness and Community.

Current and former First-Year Experience (FYE) students celebrated their video, animation and sound design works at the FYE Media Arts Festival 23 � an in-house film and media screening in 91��Ʒ�s Community Hub on November 16.

Brady VanderHart �24 and Emma Jenkins �25, Communication Design majors at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ), were named Students to Watch 2024 by Graphic Design USA magazine (GDUSA).

Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) seniors from 91��Ʒ were taken to new heights on November 13 when they toured the construction site of The Couture, a 44-story skyscraper under construction that will be Milwaukee�s tallest residential and mixed-use building. The tour was part of a series of tours their senior thesis �Building Systems� class is taking with instructor Dan Kalkman, AIA.

Sarah Eichhorn, Visiting Instructor of Fashion and Apparel Design, received the October 2023 91��Ʒ Values Recognition Award at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ). Eichhorn�s nominations speak to her Kindness, Inclusiveness, Innovation and support of 91��Ʒ�s Community.

Building community and collaboration through art: this is how two faculty members at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) spent their summer. Kim Miller, Professor and Chair of Fine Arts + New Studio Practice, and Peter Barrickman, Associate Professor in Fine Arts, completed a residency in Concepción, Chile in July.

As a high school student in Alabama, Ella Parris �25 (Illustration – Animation Track) got involved with the National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils (NARCDC). Now, the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (91��Ʒ) junior is illustrating a series of children�s books for the organization to help promote conservation to kids.
